See How This Tired Cali Bungalow Received A Fresh Transformation

Neglected mustard carpet, peeling linoleum floors, and a dilapidated bathroom in the strangest place is enough to make any prospective buyer walk out the door and never return. For Sacramento-based couple Lara and Andrew Fisher, restoring a tired 1940s bungalow back to its former grandeur presented a DIY challenge to revel in."To our understanding, it had been abandoned for several years prior to our renovation," explains Lara. "It was a mess." Despite having their work well and truly cut out for them, a far from accommodating floorplan, and the usual budget restrictions, the Fishers threw caution to the wind and teamed up with designer Christina Valencia and the Sacramento-based team at Colossus Mfg to gut, renovate, and totally start afresh."The most tricky challenge was figuring out the best configuration of the home within the existing footprint," Lara explains. "Essentially, accepting the existing footprint, and then playing Jenga within it to fit our requisite number of rooms. It wasn’t until Christina and Kele got involved that we began to see a way forward — they definitely helped us to gain a vision of what could be done. We would have been lost without their experience in transforming spaces."Fast forward 10 months and countless design decisions later, and the finished result is a layered and luxe blend of surf culture and pure Hollywood style. The couple worked closely with the design team, sourcing everywhere from Target to World Market, Wayfair, and IKEA. They scoured Sacramento's flea markets, sourcing inspiration from famous Hollywood haunts. Previously drab rooms now bask in a golden glow, each styled with an earthy blend of trendy textures and timeless materials.Need to see more of this drastically reimagined space? The mass is the mirror. The dresser is also a mass and the two balance out because they are rectangular and circular

The rectangular and circular shapes are very contrasting
